YOUR EXPERIENCE

Based on beautiful Nananu-i-ra, a remote island of Fiji, we are blessed with consistent trade winds (15 to 30 knots), a complete paradise for wind-sport enthusiasts!

Warm tropical water, wind, and sunshine provide perfect conditions for the water sports focused resort. From kitesurfing to kayaking, snorkeling, scuba diving or simply relaxing walks on the white sandy beach, this is simply a dream location to unwind!

We are staying at Safari Lodge, situated in the Vatu-I-ra Passage – the windiest place in Fiji.  Wind funnels between the two large main islands of Fiji and we are right in the middle.

The rooms are beachfront or top of the hills rustic & eco-friendly.

Whether you are on a beachfront or top of the hill what a perfect atmosphere to be around coconut trees.

Our morning sport sessions are done with the sun rising, in front of the ocean. Simply breathtaking!

– Transfers from and to Nadi Airport to the resort
– Dedicated Boat Support to offer unlimited downwiders, every day
3 tasty and nourishing meals per day, including all-day tea and coffee
– Alternate watersport for non-windy days: wakeboard, reef trups, snorkeling, Standup paddleboarding (SUP)

FAQ

By air:
To get to Nananu-I-Ra Island, you need to flight to Nadi airport.

When you land, the Freshie Team will be there to pick you up. We will then take a van or taxi (depending of the number of persons to pick-up) and bring you to an harbor, to be water-taxi by boat from Fiji’s main island to Nananu-I-Ra island.

Some countries are exempted to obtain a visa when travelling to Fiji, check if your country is in the list on the Fiji Department of Immigration (Visa Exempted Countries) webpage.

If your country is not part of the exemption list, you will need to obtain a valid visa to visit Fiji.  For more detailed information, please visit the Fiji Department of Immigration website.

In any case, you are required to have a passport with at least 6 months validity left before its expiration date.

Freshie recommends to take:

– Kitesurfing gears (including kites, board, harness, pump).
– Long Sleeve Rash Vest and Pant. Water is warm and a wetsuit is not needed unless you are usually cold in the water. Nonetheless, covering all your body with clothes is best to prevent sun burn
– Sun Cream (best is Sun Cream with Zinc). The sun is strong and without adequate protection, you will catch sun burns quickly
– Cap & Sunglasses
– Flip flops
– Beach towel
– Mosquitoes repellent
– Empty Water Bottle that you can refill (and save the planet from more plastic junk!)

Freshie Watersport Retreats is partnering with Safari Lodge, as the resort is also a kite school. Warren or one of his charming instructors can provide you lessons.

– A$ 220 for 2 hours

Freshie Watersport Retreats cannot advise on what insurance(s) you need to have to cover yourself and the damages you could do to others, we highly recommend to seek specialist advice.

Generally, one would need to have:
– A travel insurance covering medical assistance in case of personal accident when practicing watersport. Note that kitesurfing is often considered as an “adventurous” or “extreme sport” and can be excluded from basic travel insurance. In case of doubt, engage with your insurer to clarify if you are adequately covered.
– Most travel insurances covering you for “adventurous” sports should also cover for your personal Public and Property Liability, namely it should cover you in case you damage someone’s property and/or bodily injured someone.
– Finally, you need to make sure that your insurances are valid in the place where the Retreat takes place: Nananu-I-Ra Island, Fiji.
