Located 20 kilometers east of Faro, in Algarve region, is Fuseta, an outstanding town with fantastic conditions for water sports!

Fuseta shelters uncrowded and pristine lagoon and beaches offering shallow, clear and warm waters, making the spot delightful to kitesurf .

Faro has a rich cultural history as its center (the Velha Cidade) and the city walls can testify. Its surroundings have much to offer with its natural park, Ria Formosa,  and its peaceful beaches.

Located near Fuseta – in the unspoiled countryside, the villa offers privacy, space and comfort. The large swimming pool and the vast and secluded garden let you unwind and rest.

Outside, flop by the pool on one of the sun loungers, under the canopy. If you prefer, stay on a shady terrace under the carob trees – or in the covered outdoor eating area with views over the almond and olive orchard next door.

During our lazy evenings, sat sipping a drink and enjoy the sunset or views southwards down the sea.

FAQ

By air:
National and international flights are servicing Faro at affordable fares. Only 2h30 from Paris or London! When you land, the Freshie Team will be there to pick you up.

By road:
Faro can easily be reached from anywhere in continental Europe by car.  Travelling in bus or train (from Lisbon for instance) is also possible.

Let the Freshie Team know about your transportation mode, departure and arrival details in Faro, and we will arrange to be there to pick you up.

If your country is a member of Schengen Area, you do not need a visa to visit Portugal (stay up to 90 days).

Otherwise, you need to check whether or not residents from your country are required to obtain a Portuguese tourism visa.  For more detailed information, please visit the Foreigners and Border Service (SEF) website.

In any case, you are required to have a passport:
– with at least 3 months validity left after the date you intend to leave Europe.
issued within the previous 10 years

Freshie recommends to take:

– Kitesurfing gears (including kites, board, harness, pump).
– Wet Suit 3/2 or Long Sleeve Rash Vest and Pant. Water is usually warm and a wetsuit might not be needed. Nonetheless, covering all your body with clothes is best to prevent sun burn
– Sun Cream (best is Sun Cream with Zinc). The sun can be strong and without adequate protection, you will catch sun burns quickly
– Cap & Sunglasses
– Flip flops
– Beach towel
– Empty Water Bottle that you can refill (and save the planet from more plastic junk!)

Freshie Watersport Retreats cannot advise on what insurance(s) you need to have to cover yourself and the damages you could do to others, we highly recommend to seek specialist advice.

Generally, one would need to have:
– A travel insurance covering medical assistance in case of personal accident when practicing watersport. Note that kitesurfing is often considered as an “adventurous” or “extreme sport” and can be excluded from basic travel insurance. In case of doubt, engage with your insurer to clarify if you are adequately covered.
– Most travel insurances covering you for “adventurous” sports should also cover for your personal Public and Property Liability, namely it should cover you in case you damage someone’s property and/or bodily injured someone.
– Finally, you need to make sure that your insurances are valid in the place where the Retreat takes place: Fuseta, Portugal.
